The Chinese province of Hubei changed the method it uses to count who’s getting sick from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, causing a dramatic spike in reported cases at the epicenter of the disease. The head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection made a surprising admission this week about the agency's Seattle field office, saying it was “overzealous” when officers pulled aside hundreds of Iranian Americans and held them for hours. Some Democrats say the success of Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar in New Hampshire signals a growing energy among moderates. Others worry centrists will divide Democrats’ focus. The head of the head of the Iowa Democratic party announced his resignation Wednesday, as the organization is still picking up the pieces from last week's caucus debacle. A Utah bill that would reduce polygamy from a felony to an infraction — on par with a traffic ticket — was unanimously endorsed by a state Senate committee earlier this week, despite opposition from critics who argue the law could potentially protect abusers. Jared Kushner, President Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law, is trying to push a new immigration plan, but he faces daunting odds. There is a gulf between what business interests want and what immigration restrictionist groups are willing to accept.
