After months of contentious debate, Congress has reached an agreement on a massive coronavirus relief deal. The nearly $900 billion package includes a new round of direct payments to qualifying Americans, a boost in weekly unemployment benefits; and funds for small-business aid and vaccine distribution.

There are major concerns over a new mutation of the coronavirus that is spreading in the U.K. Most of the country is now under a strict lockdown, and U.K. travelers face travel bans.

The U.S. Justice Department is set to charge a Libyan man with constructing a bomb that detonated on a passenger plane over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, killing 270 people and launching a decades-long international manhunt for the culprits. Attorney General William Barr will hold a news conference on the case Monday morning, exactly 32 years after that deadly flight.

President-elect Joe Biden will receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday in order to boost the public’s confidence in the vaccines. The White House has not said when Trump or first lady Melania Trump, both of whom were infected with the virus earlier this year, would receive the vaccine.

Chicago’s lead attorney resigned Sunday amid continuing fallout from a botched and mistaken police raid nearly a year ago at the home of a Black woman. After announcing his resignation, Mark Flessner told The Chicago Tribune that he is being accused of trying to hide police body camera video of the raid, which he denies
